What Goes in Each Paragraph

  • First paragraph: Name the job and the employer. Share your most relevant skills or education, and give a short reason you're applying.
  • Middle paragraph: Describe past jobs, accomplishments, or training. Explain how each one prepared you for this job.
  • Last paragraph: Say why you want this job. Connect the employer's mission or values to your own goals. End with a thank-you and that you look forward to talking with them.

The template ends with a short explanation of each section. Delete it before you send your letter.
